To make your child's stay at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals as smooth as possible, we've listed a few items to bring with you.

Personal items are optional but may help your child feel more comfortable in the hospital. These include:

  • Pajamas, robe and slippers
  • A favorite blanket, pillow or stuffed animal
  • Music, toys, pictures of family and friends

Please also bring:

  • Changes of clothing, toiletries and any personal items you or your child will need
  • Your cell phone and charger
  • Money for food and parking
  • Your child's school textbooks and assignments
  • Your child's immunization records
  • Name and contact information for your child's primary care doctor
  • Insurance cards or information
  • Any medical supplies or equipment your child uses (such as glasses, hearing aids, crutches, braces or other aids)
  • Your medications (parents often forget to bring their own medications)
  • A list of your child's current medications, including prescription medicines, over the counter medicines, vitamins, herbal remedies and any other supplements your child takes; if you don't have a list, you may bring the containers

Please label all items with your child's name.

What not to bring to the hospital

We ask that you leave the following items at home:

  • Your child's medications, unless your child's doctor asked you to bring them
  • Valuables
