Advanced imaging services, just for kids
At UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, we offer leading-edge imaging technology in an environment designed for kids. You receive timely, reliable imaging results and the answers your family needs.
Our expert staff includes radiologists, imaging technologists and nurses who specialize in pediatric imaging. They have extensive experience working with children of all ages, from infants to young adults. Because imaging scans can be anxiety-provoking, child life specialists are also available to provide extra support and help ease any fears or worries your child may have.
Our equipment is designed for children and adjusted to produce the best images with the lowest possible radiation doses.
In some cases, sedation or anesthesia is needed to complete an imaging test, so your child remains calm and relaxed. Our team works to make your child's experience as safe and comfortable as possible.
Our imaging facilities are accredited by the American College of Radiology, which means we meet the highest standards for patient safety, image quality and staff certifications.
Adventure-themed radiology suites
At UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, our adventure-themed radiology suites feature surround sound and projected imagery. During a scan, kids can enjoy the sights and sounds of a hike in Muir Woods, a cable car ride or a sailing trip on San Francisco Bay. During an MRI, they can also watch a movie with special goggles.
Keeping young patients calm and engaged means clearer scans – and a more pleasant experience for the family.
Our pediatric imaging procedures
We offer the full range of radiology services, such as:
CT scan, including 3D CT
Fluoroscopy
Image-guided interventional procedures
MRI, including 3D and 3 Tesla (3T) MRI
Nuclear medicine and molecular imaging scans
Ultrasound (same-day appointments often available)
X-ray (walk-ins available at all locations)
