Leadership hero proof sheet

About this page

The 12 bio-page heroes recropped under BM2-888, one after another, at full page width: 10 from Our Leadership and 2 from CCCH Programs FIND. Prepared by Claude, reviewed by Todd.

Each hero here is the same item the bio page renders, referenced by GUID rather than copied. What you see is what that page shows: same image, same crop, same headline. Editing a hero on its own page changes it here too, once that page is published. Nothing on this sheet can be edited independently.

Two crop rules, not one

The two groups were cropped to different head sizes on purpose, so compare within a group before comparing across.

  • Our Leadership - head at 32% of frame width.
  • CCCH Programs FIND - head at 24%.

32% is set by George Weiss, whose original is the tightest-framed of the ten; the whole group is pinned to what his photo allows so that head size stays constant across the grid. The FIND pair are not in that grid and their originals have far more room, so holding them to his constraint would have cropped them tighter than they need to be.

What every crop has in common

All twelve are 3:2, all are a downscale from the crop window so nothing is upscaled, all sit well over the 768×518 minimum, and all leave a 5% gap above the top of the head. Head tops were measured per subject rather than derived: the face box the detector returns starts at the eyebrows, so hair volume is invisible to it, and the real head top ranges from 0.62 face-widths above the face centre for a shaved head to 0.90 for the curliest.

Reading the captions

Each caption gives the page, the media item and its stored pixel size, the file it was cropped from, and three measured numbers taken off the delivered image rather than copied from the crop script's own report: head (face-box width as a % of the frame), face (how far across the frame the face centre sits, 50% being centred) and headroom. Anything that is not like the others gets a note saying why.

Throwaway review page. Not linked from navigation, not for production.

Our Leadership

Head pinned at 32% of frame width, face centred at 50%. These ten are the set that has to look consistent with each other, and with the square cards on the Our Leadership index.

Note. The only one with no IntelligenceBank original. Checked live, not just against the local index: he is absent from the library entirely. Recropped from the legacy banner already on the page, so the delivered file is 933×622 where the other eleven are 2160×1440. Still 3:2 and still over the 768×518 minimum, but it is the one image on this sheet with no headroom left for a bigger slot.

Note. The face detector locked onto a tree trunk at the left of his original and cropped him out of frame, so his face position was pinned by hand. The hand-pinned box was smaller than a detected one would have been, which is why he re-measures at 26% rather than 32%: his head is genuinely smaller in frame than the other nine. He is the largest deviation on this sheet.

cropped from Weiss-George-5809.jpg, 5760×3840 (IntelligenceBank)
Note. The only subject not centred, and the reason BM2-733 is still open. He stands at 75% of frame width in his original, so at the shared head size the crop window ran off the right edge and he was placed at the 60% limit instead of 50%. His head is the same size as everyone else's; what differs is the horizontal position, which leaves background on his left and clips his shoulder at the right. Centring him at this zoom is not possible from this original: the widest centred window is 2918px, which would put his head at about 40% of frame, well above the set. There is no second George Weiss asset in IntelligenceBank - the other Weiss hits are William and Ethan.

Head at 24% of frame width, face centred at 50%. Looser than the ten above, deliberately. These two are not in the leadership grid, so they are not held to George Weiss's constraint.

Note. Her curls sit 0.90 face-widths above the centre of the face box, the highest of either group against 0.62 for a shaved head. She is the reason head tops are measured per subject instead of derived from the face box: a single vertical rule cuts her off.

What is still open

George Weiss is not centred (BM2-733)

He sits at 60% across where the other nine sit at 50%. His head is the same size as theirs, so this is a position problem, not a zoom problem. Three ways out, none free:

  • Centre him and accept a bigger head. The widest centred window his original allows is 2918px, which puts his head at about 40% of frame. He would then be the odd one out on size instead of position.
  • Extend the right edge of the original by about 371px so a centred window fits at the shared head size. The background there is blurred tree and wall, so an edge stretch would not be visible. This is the only option that keeps both head size and centring.
  • Leave it and call 60% within tolerance.

Reshooting is not an option from the library: there is no second George Weiss asset in IntelligenceBank.

These heroes are not the images on the index page

The cards on the Our Leadership index are a separate set of 640×640 square media items that this recrop never touched. The heroes above are 3:2. So a person’s card and their hero are two different images, cropped differently, and making them agree is a second piece of work that has not been done. BM2-888 called the square card the intended framing; the crops above are centred on the face rather than art-directed against it.

Social preview images still point at the old banners

OpenGraphImageUrl and TwitterImage on the leadership pages still hold the pre-recrop media id. The build does not emit those fields for these pages, so neither the resolver nor a hero override reaches them. A link shared to Slack or Teams shows the old, badly cropped banner.

FIND leaders with no photo (6)

Nothing to crop for these. Their heroes carried a broadly-used legacy stock placeholder, which was suppressed rather than replaced, so they render with no hero image at all. They need real photographs, not a recrop.
