About me
Dr. Sabina Ali is a gastroenterologist who specializes in caring for children with either of the two main types of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. She performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, and cares for both hospitalized patients and patients visiting the clinic. Her special interests include IBD that develops in young children or adolescents as well as liver disease.
Ali is medical director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. She has been caring for children with stomach and intestinal conditions in the East Bay since 2008 and is passionate about improving remission rates for IBD patients.
Ali studies IBD and has a particular research interest in quality improvement in IBD care. She is actively involved both locally and nationally with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. At Oakland, she leads research on IBD care through multicenter collaboration within the network ImproveCareNow.
After earning her medical degree from Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Pakistan, Ali completed a residency in pediatrics at University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital. She completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Ali belongs to the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition; Crohn's & Colitis Foundation; and American Gastroenterological Association.
