UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland houses inpatient and outpatient services, including radiology and imaging, and a range of pediatric specialty departments and clinics, from the Fetal Treatment Center to diabetes and oncology clinics and the Center for Sickle Cell Disease.

Dozens of pediatric outpatient services are also offered at the Oakland Outpatient Center, located across the street from the main hospital and connected by bridges on several levels.

Emergency care

The main children's hospital at our Oakland location has a children's emergency room and Level 1 trauma center, as well as an intensive care unit.

The emergency room is focused exclusively on kids. It is staffed by doctors and nurses trained in pediatric emergency medicine, who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As a Level 1 trauma center, we are a center of excellence in all areas of pediatric care, from emergency care and intensive care through rehabilitation services.

We also have a special five-bed asthma care unit for patients to receive asthma treatment and education.

Pharmacy

For your convenience, we have our own inpatient and outpatient pharmacy in the hospital. Pediatric Pharmacy Oakland does more than dispense medications. As part of your child's health care team, we offer pharmaceutical care and medication monitoring.

Dining options

Our cafeteria-style Friendly Café offers a wide selection of food and drink during the day. Vending machines near the entrance to the cafe are available 24 hours a day.

The Espresso Café espresso bar (across the street in the Oakland Outpatient Center) offers grab-and-go items. It's open Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To find local restaurants – including ones with takeout and delivery service – ask for a list at the hospital's Family Resource and Information Center (by the Friendly Café) or at the welcome desk at the hospital entrance.

Parking

You'll find paid parking 24/7 in the parking garage on Martin Luther King Jr. Way between 52nd and 53rd streets.

There's a maximum charge per 24-hour period. Payment for a full day gives you in-and-out privileges if you keep your receipts as you exit and re-enter the garage. You can buy discount parking coupons from the parking attendant.

The garage also has bike racks.

Metered parking is available near the hospital on 52nd Street.
